Becoming a part time helper in Singapore can present a host of challenges. For starters, I found it difficult to find a part time helper position that worked with my other schedules. Most people will hire you, but then they want you to start filling in for other people and before you know it the position has turned into an almost full time job. I couldn’t do that, but I did need a part time position in order to pay off some bills as well as save some money for the impending holiday season. I wanted to control my hours, though.
Fortunately, I found the perfect company where picking your own hours isn’t an obstacle to anything else in your life. It’s a cleaning company, which really works for me because I did that sort of work back in the day with my mother. We used to clean various bars around town for additional money during a few really lean years. Since I had the skills for the position, going through the interview was a piece of cake. I immediately liked the company and the attitudes of the people I met before, during, and after the interview.
The job itself is better than I thought. If I can’t make it on any given day, I simply call in during the morning and make sure someone is available to fill my slot. Plenty of people work here for extra money so it’s not at all difficult to find a replacement or even switch shifts with other employees. My boss is awesome and I can work as many or as few hours as I want. I’m already making plans for that extra money coming in, and it’s very likely I’m going to stay on after the holidays just because I enjoy working here so much.
